In the Summer of 2014 the Event Concepts team shaped an incredible 50th birthday celebration held at the stunning Tintswalo Atlantic Lodge for the Father of a locally based but international Camps Bay family. Fast-forward two years later and our team were asked to produce a surprise 50th birthday party for his spouse. A busy mother of three, the brief was to give her an unforgettable celebration to see in this incredible milestone that would include multiple A-list entertainment in an exclusive and dazzling setting.
Nestled between the incredible Helshoogte Mountain Range in Stellenbosch, Delaire Graff Estate was chosen as the perfect venue for this family and their guest list to experience the ultimate in luxury hospitality and discerning event planning!
The Event Concepts team fashioned a contemporary décor look-and-feel that would complement the David Collins Studio interiors of the restaurant and to subtly introduce the guest of honour’s favourite colours, duck-egg blue and white. Pops of purple created a fun contrast and gold elements were added to the table setting for a touch of glamour. The towering arrangements created fantastic height on the dinner tables and masses of candles only served to contribute to the warm and inviting ambience.
Chic and contemporary lounging and cocktail furniture framed the personalized dance floor and impressive entertainers stage on the outside terrace that overlooks a sea of vineyards and olive groves. After dinner, Afro-soul and jazz legend, Gloria Bosman took the stage and captivated the audience with her sensational performance. After speeches, dessert and the cutting of the deliciously modern 3-tiered chocolate birthday cake, guests were ushered onto the dance floor for the surprise highlight performance of the evening. Considered as Zimbabwe’s most renowned and internationally recognized cultural icon of all time, Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, wowed guests with his spirited performance and his unique blend of Southern African music.
The only repeats from the previous 50th celebration? DJ Nate, who hails from Belgium, ensured that guests partied the night away to some of the best musical memories from the past 50 years – the perfect ending to the ultimate 50th birthday party!
