Loomis Business Performance Awards
Event Concepts recently hosted US based financial services company Loomis in Cape Town for four days. Part special conference and part celebration the occasion marked the Annual Loomis performance awards- rewarding 25 top performing staff and their spouses. With delegates arriving from the US and many European countries the Event Concepts challenge was to showcase the best of Cape Town and create an environment for celebration.
From their conference base at the Radisson hotel overlooking the ocean and the city’s waterfront district, we built a number of experiences showcasing iconic Cape Town including group trips to Table mountain, Robben island, the cape peninsula and the winelands. But in true Cape Town fashion, each time, we took them out of the ordinary and introduced the group to hidden gem restaurants, off the beaten track wine farms and places and people that gave them a truly African welcome.
The group loved a memorable day in the wine lands drinking wine with winemaker and raconteur Johnny Nel in his small but wonderful Camberley wine farm, where they voted his Cabernet –merlot blend a huge hit. They danced and sang with staff on the lawns at Solms delta winery, during a musical performance that told the story of the history of the estate and enjoyed a picnic lunch under the trees at La Petite Dauphine in the Franschhoek valley.
The week culminated with the special gala awards dinner and true to form Event Concepts had booked the sophisticated Roundhouse restaurant as a perfect host for the evening. Situated high above the ocean on the slopes of table mountain, the group shuffled their feet to the beat of the Marima band whilst posing for photo’s, sipping cocktails and watching the sun drop into the ocean. Dinner was an elegant affair with award winning wines and as the performance awards were handed out the party started and continued long into the night.
