When tennis legend Roger Federer announced he would be playing a match against rival and friend Rafael Nadal in Cape Town, over 50,000 tickets sold out in a matter of minutes.
Played at the imposing Cape Town stadium, Match in Africa 6 was organized to raise money for the Roger Federer Foundation. The sold-out stadium guaranteed there would be a record amount of money raised towards changing African children’s lives, the Foundation providing them the opportunity for education and a path to actively shape a future out of poverty.
With Trevor Noah and Bill Gates also on board to play doubles with Rafa and Roger respectively, VIP fans from around the globe were eager to attend and generously support the foundation. Appointed by US event agency TEAM8 Sports & Entertainment, our Events Concepts team delivered host and concierge services and created personalised excursions, experiences and tours for an exclusive group of VIP’s over 3 days in Cape Town.
Tennis history was then made, when Roger and Rafa went head-to-head in the Match in Africa – breaking the world record for attendance at a tennis match with a crowd of 51,954 – and we are delighted to have played a small part in it.
