Event Concepts recently worked with Dubai based Mamemo Productions to pull off two astonishing and exclusive events in Cape Town for Mamemo’s International top client. Mamemo approached and chose Event Concepts as their local based agency in Cape Town, to work closely with the Dubai team on overall styling, décor, theme, execution and on site management, delivering two astounding events.
With over 200 VIP guests confirmed, absolute luxury with the highest standards of design and service was expected, and of course delivered by the Event Concepts Team. The weekend of events began on a stunning Friday evening with an opulent cocktail function at the spectacular Pentagon Villa, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the 12 Apostles Mountain Range. The following day a stylish International Polo Event and Gala Dinner held at Val De Vie Estate in the Cape Winelands, would culminate the weekend’s exclusive activities.
Thankfully the unpredictable spring weather held off on the Friday evening and guests experienced a one of a kind Cape Town sunset, paired with sophisticated canapés and some of South Africa’s finest wines and Cap Classiques. A beautifully presented and interactive Salmon and Oyster Bar served up an incredible assortment of delicious salmon, Saldanha Bay Oysters and all the gastronomic bells and whistles that go with it. The canapés were an ingenious mix of exotic Asian, European and South African flavours with striking combinations to excite the palate. Highlight ingredients like Fois Gras, langoustines with lemongrass ponzu, crispy duck confit, seared Canadian scallops, slow roasted lamb, Kingklip in Cape Malay spices and wild mushrooms truffle tartlets, all came together to create a gastronomic experience. Local songstress and pianist, Lynne Poulsen, provided beautiful jazz standards for the evening and matched the sophisticated ambience perfectly, whilst striking floral and candle arrangements softened the modern architectural lines of the villa and added a stunning natural element.
The following day guests were asked to dress in crisp whites and blues to attend the International Polo Event and our team ensured a bespoke designer setting to match! Against the backdrop of a luxuriously manicured wine and polo estate, an international team featuring top Emirati polo players, would take on Val de Vie’s local team. Guests were able to watch each of the four thrilling chukkers from the comfort of modern stylised lounge pockets in the day’s colour scheme, all whilst sampling delicious estate wines and canapés.
After the prize giving, guests were invited into the Ball Room for the Gala Dinner. Our Event Team had transformed the space into a modern yet elegant setting to reflect the exclusivity of the guest list, with a clear design and conceptual branding motivation. A contemporary royal blue provided a pop of fresh colour which was offset by silvery grey linen and crisp white florals. Striking floral installations not only softened the Ball Room chandeliers but created quite the conversation piece. The long 30 seater tables created an extensive canvas for a mix of modern elements mixed amongst classic silver candelabras. Luminescent blue intelligent lighting washed over the white space and brought it to life as guest entered for dinner.
Two original Richard Scott paintings were specially commissioned for this event. He worked alongside the SONGU Childrens Charity and these 2 paintings were part of an exciting auction during speeches. A delicious 5 course menu ended off a stunning gastronomic weekend, and a live performance by the Swing Setters, who seamlessly combine swing, funk and rock & roll, kept the guests entertained for the remainder of the evening.
